as fter requests from the Ridgway Area Chamber of Commerce Colorado and
the recently-formed Temporary Signage Task Force, members of the
Ridgway Town Council directed staff at its Dec. 9 meeting to draft
changes to town ordinances making it legal for business owners to place
temporary tent signs or easels outside their businesses. These types of
temporary signs are currently prohibited by town policy.
While
some town councilmembers said they are reluctant to change the current
policy, in light of the current economic conditions they are willing to
consider changes that might benefit local businesses.
The
nine-member Temporary Signage Task Force was formed after a Sept. 16
town council work session where members of the RACC Board of Directors
said many business owners wanted to be able to use temporary signs for

return to the law of the jungle, the rule of the most powerful, the
world of the Melian dialogue recorded in Thucydides'
